Based in Weston super Mare, Matte Black Films is a TV drama development consultancy.
Our aim is to develop locally based scripts, novels and drama concepts set in the South West region for a global TV audience via mainstream television or other streaming providers.
With many years of professional expertise in identifying and discovering talent, we are actively looking for original content which can be developed into treatments for consideration by leading drama production companies.
MBF is currently developing a series of novels by Matt Brolly set in Somerset featuring Detective Inspector Louise Blackwell.

Specialising in script development and sourcing commissions for 'new to TV' writers and directors including feature film director, Christopher Smith (The Day Grandad Went Blind) and novelist, Peter Benson (The Levels).

A well-established and experienced Film & Television 1st AD and 2nd Unit Director with an extensive track record in independent film, the BBC and ITV, combining skills in budgeting, scheduling, production planning, camera and sound editing and talent co-ordination.
Screen credits for many BBC programmes, Stephen Frears’ assistant director on feature film “Liam” and productions with writers Jimmy McGovern and Alan Bleasdale.
Directed short film AIR for National Autism Society. Producer on "Return to Renford" a reboot of the popular Nickelodeon series "Renford Rejects".
